2007 Badger Bite Race - Record Breaking Again!

Near perfect conditions greeted runners at the start of the 2007 race as a record 277 competitors lined up for the off. Wolves legend Don Goodman sent the runners on their way for what was going to be another exciting race.

Last year's winner and record holder, Telford AC's Dave Mansbridge along with Paul Rogers (Tipton Harriers), Richard Read (Wolves & Bilston) and DK's Ian Mansell and Kevin Duckworth made an early break from the pack. These 5 stayed in contention with Sean Morgan (Wolves & Bilston) and Michael Morley (Birchfield) working their way into the proceedings as the race progressed over the challenging 6k course.

Mansbridge was not to be moved however and stormed through the tape in a new record time of 21:20 surpassing is own previous record by 37 secs. Paul Rogers stayed strong and held 2nd place in 21:49 (still within the 2006 record) and Sean Morgan sealed 3rd place with measured race. DK's Kevin Duckworth had to be content with 4th but did take the 1st Vet 40 prize.

The ladies race was won by Birchfield's Rachel Cook who looked in fine form as she took a staggering 1m:15s off the ladies record to finish in 26:05. In 2nd place was Celia Almond in 27:51 who also claimed the 1st Vet40 category and 3rd was Stone Master Marothoner Michelle Ruston in 28:23.
